Munich Oktoberfest
The Munich Oktoberfest (known affectionately by the locals as the “Wiesn” after Theresienwiese where it is held) has taken place annually since 1810 in the Bavarian capital of Munich. It attracts around six million visitors every year (in fact, in 2012 there were 6.4 million!). Munich’s breweries produce a special beer for the event, which has a minimum specific gravity of 13.5% and is thus higher in alcohol than normal beer (the 2013 Oktoberfest beer contained between 5.8% and 6.4% alcohol by volume).
Theresienwiese is only 3 underground (subway) stations from Hotel Nymphenburg.
